Book Club

Book Club is held on the second Wednesday of the month at the library from 10:30 - 11:30. Several copies of the monthly selection are available for checkout through the library. There is no charge for this offering.

Selection of the Month

The selection for June 2024 is "Mockingbird Summer" by Lynda Rutledge. Copies are available at the Library. July 10th is "Refugee" by Alan Gratz August 14th is "The Painted Veil" by Sumerset Maugham September 11th is "The Wedding Dress Quilt: a Waxahachie, Texas, Quilt Murder" by Jeffree Itrich October 9th is "West with Giraffes" by Lynda Rutledge

Free Services:

Book check-out (adults, teens, children, large print). Computer use. WIFI. Scanning. Genealogy resources.

Services for a small fee:

Printing. VHS tape transfer to digital.

Free Activities:

Crafting. Mondays at 3:30

Games. Wednesdays at 1:00

Book Club. 2nd Wednesday 10:30-11:30

Summer Storytime. Presented by Tale Tellers. June 5-July 24, 2024. Crafts, games, snacks!

West News 1910-2002 online at Portal to Texas History.

Resources for adults and youth (homework skills, college prep, job hunting, etc.).

Library News

Tocker Grant Received:

West Public Library has received a $5,000 grant from the Tocker Foundation. One part is for $1,000 to be used for book-club discussion selections and the second is $4,000 to purchase new books. (May 2024)

Paperback Book Exchange:
Bring paperbacks that you have read to the library and exchange them for books you would like to read. These books are not to be checked out in a customary manner and do not need to be returned unless you would like to bring them back to exchange.
